Life is never dull 😉Īs we continue our journey of finding helpful homeschooling resources, specifically for the younger grades, I thought it would be helpful to pull together some more free worksheets. It seems like we are nearing the end of the summer busyness for us, but I am sure that the fall will hold its own special activities and responsibilities. It has not been too busy, though, which has been nice after a busier week. Hello, friends! It is another hot, summer day over here in my part of the world. They include the words from Dolch’s list of 220 words and Fry’s first 100, plus a few extra. Which words are included? Both versions include worksheets for 240 high frequency words.Instead, they write an original sentence and use the editing checkboxes in number 6 to check their work. In the level 2 worksheet, as you can see above, students do not do the cut-and-paste or word find activity. Our sight word worksheets include TWO versions of each worksheet. I’ve designed our new high frequency word worksheets to fit ALL these criteria! Choose worksheets that call attention to the irregular parts of the word (if there are any).It promotes memorizing words as wholes, and that’s NOT how the brain learns to read. But time and again, I’ve heard reading experts say that this is pointless. I’m sure you’ve seen them – they’re everywhere. Avoid worksheets that have boxes for writing the letters of different heights.This may not be a favorite student activity, but writing those words is so important! Choose a worksheet that gives students practice writing the sight words.So a good set of sight word worksheets will draw attention to those sounds. We know that this is how we “map” words into our brains – by matching those sounds to the letters. Choose worksheets that draw attention to the individual sounds in each word.
